Does Shawn Obasi really applies Wing Chun?

There is the "Wing Chun guy" in some MMA matches. Shawn Obasi has a limited number of MMA fights. Also these fights were not against big brothers of MMA. Some standart sportsman, maybe better a little.

 If you watch the video at the bottom of this post, you will see how he does fight in the scale of Wing Chun. Punchs are not ok, steps also...I say nothing about grappling part. Oppenent tries to get in and he replies ... I didn't like it. If he wants to be a real "Wing Chun guy" in rings, he must apply real Wing Chun.

Did you watch carefully? I choose one guy who uses just the concept. Video is below. He tries to knock opponent down with short and high frequency punches. Steps into man against him. I liked this move :)

Wing Chun concept in ring

Nowadays Wing Chun is a very popular martial art. Martial art lovers all around the world try to reach some perfect  trainers who will tell the "wrong and rigth"s about it. If it works or not. Frankly Wing Chun is not very perfect in my opinion. Because practicians think that there is a golden spoon and they have it due to eat their opponents. This is deeply wrong. I trained Wing Chun for almost 4 years and my efforts during education showed me that if I was trying to practice boxingor sth else, I will be great for ring. I do not say Wing Chun is a bad martial art. It is perfect. But the practicioner could not apply WC moves in a ring properly, I think. Ring is a very different place. Practicioner cannot use all of his body in such a freedom that is in street. Fighter is in some hard rules. And also fighter does not have long range kicks or punches. Wing Chun kicks and punches are effective in short range. So you have to close up.

The best part of Wing Chun is it's concept. "Distances" build this martial arts' basics. Bruce Lee had seen this and founded his style "Jeet Kune Do". Use what martial art which fits best to you in a distance. For example boxing in punch distance, Jui Jitsu on the ground, Tae Kwon Do in kick distance. If you do not, then be a very smart martial artist and always be in your style's range. This guy showes up Wing Chun's close up concept in his way. I liked it. It is an approach to use WC in ring. Don't forget, point is distances :)

Pankration

Pankration is something I always desire to..... It has history, mitology, sports and martial arts. Nowadays people love to watch some bloddy ring sports like boxing, muay thai, mma and whatsoever. I believe that there is a genetic inheritance from our ancestors. We know that Roman civilization founded atletism. Besides there is blood in arenas.Till a month ago, I hadn't known there was something called "Pankration" which was an ancient and great martial art and sports. Immediately I watched videos about Pankration, read and now I write :) If you watch a pankration match, you will decide that it is absolutely greater than regular martial arts. By the way, I didn't see anything worse than MMA. Frankly I say Pankration is more fun than MMA. It has grapling, boxing, kicks ... It has all MMA concept. My idea in pankration is it has w great grappling base. I will try to exercise when I have spare time. Good days.
